Legends of Lord Vishwakarma
Alakapuri: When Lord Kubera goes to Vishwakarma for a residence after becoming the god of wealth, Vishwakarma created the splendid city of Alakpuri on Mount Mandara.
Chaitraratha: These are the most beautiful gardens in the universe created by Vishwakarma for Kubera. Chaitraratha is built near Alakpuri.
Palace of Lord Indra: When Lord Indra became the king of the devas, he requested Vishwakarma to make a really amazing palace. Vishwakarma redoes this palace and makes it more grand multitudinous times.
Lankapuri: The city Lankapuri is made entirely of gold and was originally created by Lord Vishwakarma.
Dwaraka: Lord Krishna told Vishwakarma to build a beautiful city then he notified Krishna that it could be built only if Samudradev (god of the oceans and seas) gave some land. Then Lord Krishna prayed to Samudradev and eventually, Samudradeva gave 12 yojana to him. Then Vishwakarma built a beautiful city (called Dwaraka) for Krishna and the Yadavas.
Flying chariots of the devas: Most of the flying chariots of the devas were built by Lord Vishwakarma.
Pushpaka Vimana: When Lord Kubera was really deformed and facing a hard time, Lord Brahma felt sad for him. With the intention to help Kuber, Lord Brahma ask Vishwakarma to build a flying chariot called the Pushpaka Vimana for Kubera. This chariot can obey any commands such as right, left, forwards, down, up, backwards, etc.
Vajra: Vishwakarma created a gruesome weapon (Vajra) out of the bone of sage Dadhichi. He created this weapon for Lord Indra to kill Vritrasura.
Yamapuri: Lord Vishwakarma also created Yamapuri for Yama Dev, his Yamadutas, and for all his ministers & advisors.
ShraddhaVati: Shraddhavati is the city of Varuna which was built by Lord Vishwakarma in the ocean.
Vijaya bow: Lord Vishwakarma also made the Vijaya bow and gave it to Indra.
IMPORTANCE OF VISHKARMA PUJA
Vishwakarma Day also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti or Vishwakarma Puja is a day of celebration for Vishwakarma, a Hindu god, the divine architect and one of the fourteen precious things born of the . He constructed the holy city of Dwarka where Krishna ruled, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, and was the creator of many fabulous weapons for the gods. He is also called the divine carpenter, is mentioned in the Rig Veda, and is credited with Sthapatya Veda, the science of mechanics and architecture.
It is generally celebrated on the day after Diwali festival in Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Tripura. The festival is observed primarily in factories and industrial areas, often on the shop floor. As a mark of reverence the day of worship is marked not only by the engineering and architectural community but by artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers, factory workers and others. They pray for a better future, safe working conditions and, above all, success in their respective fields. Workers also pray for the smooth functioning of various machines.
